The RTA is celebrating the recent re-release of its key information booklet for lessors, Managing general tenancies in Queensland (MGT).
RTA Senior Communications Officer, Davina Jones, said a major review of the MGT was undertaken in consultation with the sector.
"Since its last review, there have been a number of significant changes including the introduction of a new Act, so the timing was right to consult with the sector about their information needs and to ensure the MGT continued to meet them," she said.
The survey also found the MGT was being widely used as a training tool within the sector and by registered training organisations.
"We asked the sector what they wanted from the publication and listened to what they said. "We discovered people wanted more information on topics such as breaking leases and the maintenance of properties, so these have been included," she said.
The new MGT is more comprehensive, easier to navigate through the introduction of section numbers and includes handy hints such as calculating notice periods and how to transfer bonds," Ms Jones said. With 99 per cent of respondents believing property managers needed to have access to the booklet, changes were implemented allowing them to use it as a resource tool to gain a better understanding of the intent behind each section.
"We have also introduced a new icon into the booklet that readily identifies sections of the Act where penalty provisions apply," Ms Jones said.
